Mwanza, Tanzania — November 6, 2026
Kenya’s First Daughter Charlene Ruto exchanged vows with Tanzanian tech entrepreneur Isaya Yunge in a glamorous white wedding ceremony held on Friday at Malaika Beach Resort in Mwanza, Tanzania.
President William Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto escorted their daughter down the aisle in an outdoor ceremony overlooking Lake Victoria. The couple formalised their union before a bishop of the Africa Inland Church in Tanzania, surrounded by family, friends and guests from both countries.
Charlene wore an elegant white lace wedding gown with a long veil and carried a bouquet, while Isaya opted for a classic cream or white formal suit. Her sisters, including Stephanie, June, Nadia and Cullie, served as bridesmaids in matching red gowns.
The wedding follows the couple’s traditional Kalenjin Koito engagement ceremony held on August 8, 2026, at the Ruto family’s Intonna Heritage Farm in Kilgoris, Narok County. Under Kalenjin custom, the bride’s family hosts the traditional rites while the groom’s family hosts the subsequent white wedding, explaining the choice of Yunge’s hometown of Mwanza.
Isaya Yunge is the founder of SomaApps Technologies, a platform that connects African students with scholarship opportunities. The high-profile event drew Kenyan officials including Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi and other government figures, with heightened security in the city.
The celebrations featured elegant floral decorations, white tents and later displays of coloured effects lighting up the sky over the lakeside venue as the newlyweds posed for photographs and shared joyful moments with guests.
