Bahati and Diana Marua Charge KSh1 Million Per Guest for Exclusive November Wedding

Nairobi, October 2026—Kenyan musician Kevin Bahati and content creator Diana Marua have sparked widespread debate after announcing that guests wishing to attend their wedding must pay KSh1 million for an invitation.

The couple, who have been together for about a decade, revealed plans to formalize their union on November 6, 2026. Attendance will be strictly limited to 100 people. In a statement marking their 10th anniversary, Bahati said:

“Finally, it’s time to mark a decade of love… On this special day we will only have 100 people in attendance, and anyone that would like to attend must pay Ksh 1 million to get the invite.”

Diana later confirmed the date, urging interested parties to “call now and purchase the invite.” If all 100 slots are filled, the invitations alone could generate up to KSh100 million. Bahati has previously spoken of staging an elaborate celebration, including a wedding gown for Diana that could cost around KSh5 million, and has indicated he does not intend to rely on traditional fundraising committees.

Public Reaction

The announcement immediately triggered mixed reactions online and from public figures. Nairobi County Chief Officer Geoffrey Mosiria questioned the fee, asking what made the wedding so special that guests should pay KSh1 million and whether attendees would be “buying shares.” He later said he would attend in an official capacity to check environmental compliance without paying. Pastor Victor Kanyari also criticized the arrangement before subsequently purchasing an invitation.

Bahati has pushed back against the criticism, posting messages such as “Kwani, what is 1 million???” and framing the event as one for “ballers.” Other entertainers and personalities have responded in various ways: some, including forex trader Kenyan Prince and businesswoman Dama Wa Spares, have secured invitations; others like Willy Paul and Remcy Don have floated performance deals in exchange for attendance, and content creator Mbavu Destroyer said he secured sponsorship to attend.

The couple’s decision has turned what many expected to be a conventional celebrity wedding into one of the most talked-about events in Kenyan entertainment, highlighting both the couple’s preference for an exclusive, high-end celebration and the public’s scrutiny of such a steep entry fee.
