NAIROBI — Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna is on Friday expected to unveil the Linda Mwananchi Movement’s national headquarters in Nairobi as well as its secretariat, as the political outfit steps up efforts to establish its structures ahead of the 2027 General Election.Citizen
The event will also mark the formal opening of the movement’s presidential campaign command centre and the naming of some members of its national leadership. The new offices, located in the Lavington area (with some reports specifying Jipe House off Kabarsiran Avenue), are intended to serve as the central operational base for coordinating political activities, mobilisation, administration, communications and fundraising across the country.Bana
The unveiling follows the movement’s rebranding from The Equitable Party (TEP) to the Linda Mwananchi Movement (LMM), a process cleared by the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties after no objections were raised during the gazetted notice period. Sifuna has been positioned as the party leader and preferred presidential candidate.Thekenyatimes
Bumula MP Jack Wamboka and Funyula MP Wilberforce Oundo have confirmed the launch, noting that the movement has lined up further mobilisation activities immediately afterwards, beginning with a public rally in Kwale County on Saturday, October 31. Over 40 former ODM county chairmen are among those expected to attend, alongside other opposition figures. Reports indicate that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka have confirmed their attendance.Tuko
The development comes as opposition leaders intensify efforts to build structures and explore alliances ahead of the 2027 polls. Linda Mwananchi, which emerged from differences within ODM over its relationship with the current administration, has attracted several lawmakers including Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka, Suba South MP Caroli Omondi and Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi. Pauline Njoroge has been serving as interim head of communication in the presidential campaign secretariat.The-star
The Lavington headquarters is expected to give the movement a fixed physical presence in the capital after months of countrywide rallies, as it works to establish county offices and open its ticket to aspirants. The move is widely seen as a key step in transforming Sifuna’s growing political influence into an organised vehicle for the next General Election.
