Gachagua Hosts Sifuna and Linda Mwananchi Team in Wamunyoro

The Wamunyoro Meeting: Emerging Cross-Regional Consultations

Simultaneously, the political center of gravity shifted to Wamunyoro in Nyeri County, where former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua hosted an influential delegation led by ODM Secretary General and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, alongside representatives from the Linda Mwananchi movement.

WAMUNYORO POLITICAL CONSULTATIONS: CORE FOCUS

  • Dialogue between Mt. Kenya regional leadership and opposition figures
  • Focus on civic freedoms, economic accountability, and regional interests
  • Broadening of political bridges beyond traditional party lines

The high-profile meeting—coming weeks after Gachagua’s historic impeachment—has sparked intense political conversation across the country.

While all participating parties characterized the discussions as routine civic engagement focused on defending democratic institutions, economic equity, and consumer rights, political analysts view the gathering as an early attempt to forge new political cross-regional working arrangements.

Addressing media crews gathered outside his country home, Gachagua emphasized that Mt. Kenya’s political leadership remains open to engaging progressive leaders from all corners of the republic.

“Kenya belongs to all of us, and no region or leader should be isolated for holding principled views on national governance,” Gachagua noted.

“We hosted Senator Sifuna and the Linda Mwananchi team to discuss the genuine struggles of ordinary citizens—from rising university fees to healthcare financing. When the rights of mwananchi are at stake, political labels become secondary.”

Senator Sifuna echoed similar sentiments, maintaining that opposition figures have a duty to consult widely across regional divides to advocate for sound economic policies and protect public interests.

“Our discussion in Wamunyoro centered on key issues affecting everyday Kenyans regardless of where they live,” Sifuna stated.

“Whether in Nairobi, Nyeri, or Western Kenya, citizens are demanding transparency, affordable living, and respect for the rule of law. We will continue building bridges across regions to ensure the voice of the people is heard.”

The meeting signal a period of fluid political realignments as leaders across the spectrum assess regional power dynamics ahead of upcoming parliamentary debates and future electoral milestones.
