ODM Holds Mega Rally at Jacaranda Grounds to Close Mwezi wa Baba Commemorations

Nairobi, October 31, 2026 – The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is holding a major rally at Jacaranda Grounds in Embakasi East today, bringing to a close a month-long series of activities commemorating the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

The gathering, dubbed Mwezi wa Baba, marks the climax of events held across the country throughout October to honour Raila’s legacy. ODM Nairobi chairman and Makadara MP George Aladwa said the party expects more than 100,000 attendees from Nairobi and other counties.

Party leader Oburu Oginga, who has been recovering from illness, is expected to address the crowd virtually. Senior leaders including National Chairperson Gladys Wanga and other party officials are set to speak at the venue.

The National Police Service has deployed officers along key routes and at the grounds to ensure security. Nairobi Regional Police Commander Issa Mohamud confirmed that arrangements were made following formal notification from the organisers.

Jacaranda Grounds previously hosted a large Linda Mwananchi rally on September 13, 2026. ODM’s choice of the same venue is seen as a bid to reaffirm its influence in Nairobi under the slogan “Nairobi ni ODM” as political realignments continue ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Supporters began arriving early, with entertainment underway as party leaders made their way to the grounds. The rally is expected to continue through the afternoon as ODM concludes its October commemorations.
